<image:caption>“When I first injured my shoulder I was worried about the cost-to-benefit ratio of physiotherapy. I was concerned that it was only for conditions related to aging and wouldn't help someone like me who's young, athletic and wants to get back to boxing. After my initial session with Stephanie I felt better, more aligned - I understood where my problems were coming from. Now, my shoulders are much stronger, I know how to safely execute lifts that had previously contributed to the problem, and I've learned proper stretches. I've even gained the confidence to get back on the punching bag. PT is and should be for everyone, not only when they're injured, but as a way to stay active and healthy.”</image:caption>

      <image:title>Stories - Ariel</image:title>
<image:caption>“When I first came to see Stephanie, I was in deep chronic pain more than a year after my hip surgery and about two years after my initial injury. I was desperate for even basic daily activities to be pain-free and I longed for my old gym workouts and long-distance bike rides. I had worked with multiple physical therapists and had become weary –unconvinced that anyone could help get me back to doing daily activities with ease (let alone cycling or weightlifting like before my injury). Stephanie immediately made me feel heard about the pain I was experiencing and also listened to my goals. She was the first PT who talked about the psychological side of chronic pain as much as the physical side and she gave me exercises that were customized to exactly where my body was at in the healing process rather than just what the “normal” progress is after surgery. Initially, our work helped me resolve chronic pain, use the right muscles for movement (rather than the ones my body always wants to default to), and made daily activity easier. It helped that Stephanie provided continued progressions of my exercise program as my strength and mobility returned. Next, it was huge for me to move from physical therapy to back into the gym. Working with Stephanie in the gym helped me regain the confidence to move my body and I trusted that she was giving me programs that would keep my hip and the rest of my body safe. She encouraged me to set goals and fun things to look forward to like a vacation with hiking. Finally, we rebuilt my strength, but differently compared to before my injury. I feel more like an athlete again, my muscles are back, and I’m not just getting on my bike, I’m doing long rides (I just completed the Rapha Women’s 100k!) and going hiking, kayaking, and doing other outdoor activities without thinking about my hip limiting me. Not only am I physically able, I’ve let go of most of the mental blockers standing in my way. Stephanie and I laughed together and cried together through this journey and I’m so grateful to have her as a partner in my healing and strength-building.”</image:caption>

      <image:title>Services - Overcome injury</image:title>
<image:caption>If you’re struggling with pain or severely restricted mobility, we’ll start on the physiotherapy end of the continuum with an assessment of your movement control, joint mobility, and strength. I’ll educate you on the results and together we’ll create a roadmap toward your goal. Along the way, we’ll use treatments like soft tissue and joint mobilization, neuromuscular re-education, and strength-training to manage your pain, optimize your movement control, increase your functional mobility, and start the process of maximizing strength. Finally, let’s not forget the homework: you’ll always walk away from our sessions with specific guidance (therapeutic movements, recommended lifestyle modifications, or mindfulness practices) to help accelerate your recovery. As pain decreases and mobility improves you’ll feel increasingly independent managing any remaining symptoms, and our focus will shift toward strength training, after all, the real goal here isn’t just to get you out of pain, it’s to make you strong enough to ensure that it doesn’t come back. At this point you’ll be confident in identifying and executing the types of exercise that are the best medicine for your body.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Services - Maximize strength</image:title>
<image:caption>When designed around the needs and goals of the individual, strength coaching is appropriate and beneficial for almost everyone, especially those making the transition from physiotherapy back to their favorite sport, activity, or lifestyle challenge. Whether your goal is to lift your kids with ease, do your first unassisted pull-up, or pull a double bodyweight deadlift, you’ll get to your goal fastest through customized training. If we’ve just gotten you out of the acute phase of your injury, this is where we make you “bulletproof” and restore total body strength and conditioning. If you’re uninjured and want to get stronger, we’ll begin by identifying any barriers (joint stiffness, limited movement control, or specific muscle weakness) standing between you and your goal. We’ll incorporate strategies to overcome these barriers within the bigger picture for faster achievement of your desired outcome with minimal risk of injury. Regardless of where you’re starting, strength coaching is really about helping you become your most empowered, most confident self.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Cookie-cutter fitness won’t cut it. Once you’ve built the mobility and strength foundations that prepare you for training without supervision or return-to-sport, you’re still left with the question of the best way to train as your goals evolve. Every one of us has our own medical/injury history, movement goal, training preferences, and lifestyle demands. Our long-term approach to fitness should reflect those factors that make us unique. Through custom fitness programming and digital support we’ll keep your training program up-to-date to meet your ever-evolving goals regardless of where you are on the globe and how your schedule and lifestyle change over the years.</image:caption>
